Before-and-after grooms: the easiest posts you'll ever make

Before-and-after grooming photos are some of the most loved posts on social media. Here's how to make them a weekly habit without adding work.

If you run a grooming shop, a boarding facility or a training business, you're sitting on some of the best content on the internet.

A scruffy doodle walks in. A fluffy, bow-wearing doodle walks out. That's a post people stop scrolling for.

Why before-and-afters work

  • •They tell a story in two photos. No caption needed, though a good one helps.
  • •Owners share them. When a client sees their pup featured, they send it to everyone they know.
  • •They show your skill. No sales pitch required. The "after" does the talking.

How to make it a habit

  1. 1.Same spot, same angle. Pick one wall or table with good light. Take the "before" and the "after" there.
  2. 2.Ask at drop-off. "Mind if we feature Bella on our page?" Most owners love it.
  3. 3.Keep the caption short. The pet's first name, the service, and one fun line.
  4. 4.Post on a schedule. Two or three a week beats ten one week and none the next.

Mix in a few other posts

  • •Meet the groomer or trainer.
  • •Seasonal tips: summer shave myths, holiday boarding reminders.
  • •Openings this week, for last-minute bookings.

The part people skip

Taking the photos is easy. Writing captions, picking the best ones and posting every week is where it falls apart.

That's what 298Digital does. You snap the photos. We write and post them every week on Facebook, Instagram and Google, in your voice. And your new website has a 24/7 assistant to answer "Do you have openings this week?"
