Anyone you add as a Manager on your Google Business Profile can post updates for you — a team member, a marketing company, or a service that makes social media posts from your own photos. You stay the owner, you never share your Google password, and you can remove them any time.
That's the short answer. Here's what to know before you hand it off.
Why do Google Business Profile posts matter?
Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing people see when they search your business name or something like "groomer near me." Posts (Google calls them updates) show up right on that profile.
A profile with recent updates and photos tells a customer you're open, active and paying attention. A profile whose last update is from two years ago leaves them wondering. Most business owners know this. They just don't have time to log in every week.
Who can post to my Google Business Profile?
Anyone with access to the profile. Google has three roles:
- •Primary owner — that should be you, the business owner.
- •Owner — full control, including adding and removing people.
- •Manager — can post updates, add photos and edit most business info, but can't remove owners or transfer the profile.
For someone posting on your behalf, Manager is the right role. Don't give an outside company Owner access, and never give anyone your Google login.
How do I add someone to post for me?
It takes about two minutes:
- 1.Search your business name on Google while signed in to the account that owns the profile.
- 2.Open the menu on your profile and choose Business Profile settings.
- 3.Choose People and access, then Add.
- 4.Enter their email address and pick Manager.
They'll get an invite to accept. If you ever part ways, go back to the same screen and remove them.
What should someone post on my profile?
Keep it simple and real:
- •Your own photos. The team, the shop, a finished job, a happy pet after a groom. Real photos beat stock images every time.
- •What's new. New hours, a new service, a new team member, holiday closures.
- •Offers and events. Google has post types for both, with dates and a button.
- •One clear button. "Book," "Call" or "Learn more" pointing to the right page on your website.
Skip anything that reads like an ad from a stranger. Your Google profile should sound like your business.
How often should a local business post?
Weekly is a good, realistic target. Consistency matters more than volume — one solid update every week beats ten in January and nothing until June.
If you're already posting to Facebook and Instagram, you don't need brand-new content for Google. The same photo and message, trimmed down, works fine.
Should I hire someone or do it myself?
Do it yourself if you have 15 minutes a week and you'll actually stick with it. Set a calendar reminder for the same time every week.
Hand it off if it keeps slipping. When you look at who to hire, ask:
- •Will you post from my photos, or stock images?
- •Do you post to Facebook and Instagram too, or just Google?
- •Do I stay the owner of my profile and accounts?
- •Is it month to month, or am I locked into a contract?

FAQ
Do I have to give my Google password to someone who posts for me?
No. Add them as a Manager from Business Profile settings. They use their own Google account.
Can a Manager delete my Business Profile?
No. Managers can post and edit info, but only owners can remove the profile or change ownership.
What if my profile isn't verified yet?
Finish verification first. Unverified profiles can't publish updates.
Can I post the same thing on Google that I post on Facebook?
Yes. Trim it to a few sentences, keep the photo, and add one button.
